With the recent announcement from the Premier Developmental League (PDL) in October 2017, the newest minor league sports addition to Corpus Christi, “The Sharks”, has captured the attention of soccer fans across the Coastal Bend.
With the upcoming season in May 2018, The Sharks had previously announced 2 open tryout dates that took place on November 19th and December 2nd at Butler Soccer Complex.
Both tryouts were successful, bringing together a total of 110 registered participants from around the area. The tryouts consisted of speed and agility drills that ended with a scrimmage to assess and evaluate the players’ talent.
“We have had a great turnout at the tryouts and it’s clear that Corpus Christi has a strong soccer presence,” said Head Coach Sammy Giraldo. “I am confident we will continue to see a high level of competition at the next set of tryouts and I am excited to see continued community support during the next phase of this process.”
